300+ words Essay on need of women empowerment in Nepal

Providing special support to women for their upliftment is called women empowerment. The status of women in Nepal is still miserable. More than half of the population of Nepal is occupied by women. Nepal is developing country. Most of the parts of the country are rural areas where the facilities of education, health and employment are still lacking. The people of such areas especially women are illiterate and unemployed. They are dependent upon male member of the family for living.
Present status of women in Nepal
There are only few city areas in Nepal where the status of women maybe seemed to be improved but even in city areas women don’t get 100% chance to utilise their rights with Freedom. It will be more drastic to talk about the condition of women in rural areas. There exist blind beliefs regarding women in those areas. People still don’t care about the education for their daughters as much as they do for their sons. There is still existence of child marriage . Most of the girls are married before 20 years of age in most of the places of Nepal . Parents work to collect dowry from when girls are born.
Parents don’t spend money for the education of their daughters. In some places , girls are sent to government schools and boys are sent to private schools of the same family. This is a kind of discrimination to be removed. Sons are let to study until they grab any job but daughters are not even let to go private schools for primary education. Moreover, sons get more freedom to do anything they like whereas daughters are bound with many commands.
So the subject of women empowerment is burning issue today in Nepal . It is said that male and female are the two sides of the same coin so until women are made equal as men the country cannot change its face. The nation will only develop when both men and women work together . The applause cannot be made with single palm. In this way the nation cannot be developed just by men . We can see that women play vital role in making the home beautiful. They do small to big works of the home. They keep on working from the time they wake up to the time they sleep. If we compare the working hours of men and women, we will find that women work more than men.
How can we empower women?
Women empowerment is very important. We should unite together to help women to lift them up from the current status. The rights given to women are just mentioned on the paper of constitution. We should work together to bring those rights into practice. We should create awareness on women rights all over the country. The facility of education should be spread to the rural areas of the Nepal. Not only to women , education should be given to all the parents who have conservative thinking regarding girls. They should be taught that girls are not less than boys. Girls can do their best if they are given equal opportunities as boys get . Early marriage should be discouraged . The light of awareness should be spread . Women empowerment should be promoted.
