Kaag Tihar
Tihar is celebrated for 5 days. The first day is called as Kaag Tihar. Crow is called as kaag in Nepali . Crow is very special on this day. Crow is believed to be the messenger of God Yamraj also known as god of death. The cawing of crow is associated with negative aspects of life like sadness and grief. People on this day give grains , seeds and sweets to crow to eat. For this , people place these things on the roof of the house, yard of house or streets in city areas. Bhai Tika
The fifth day is called Bhai Tika. On this day, the powerful Bond between brother and sister is reflected to the world . This tradition started when Yamuna worshipped her brother with garland and Holy water and oil. In this day, sisters give delicious food to their brothers to eat. Brothers also offer gifts to sister.
